The internet has mixed feelings about these models. They're both on sale for the same price, anyone care to make a comparison? thumb.gif

I believe the g400 is the remake of the mx518, and the g500 is the next gen of the g5. I have the g500 myself, and you cannot go wrong with it. One thing I disliked about the mx518 series is that the mouse would attract oil from your fingers a lot more easily, but I'm not sure with the the g400. The g500 is extremely solid, perfect for gaming but a bit on the heavy side.

I have the G400 currently. It's a great mouse. The buttons feel sturdy and make a nice click when they engage. The mouse itself tracks great. Haven't noticed any acceleration or any sort of jitters. Feels loads better than my old wireless mouse.

I'm currently coming from one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Cordless-Laser-Mouse-Notebooks/dp/B001DJ7Y2O

It's a laser mouse. The G400 is optical, anything I should know?

G400 hands down. I had both and the g500 laser sensor is too sensitive to dust / hair. Also a hard pad is needed to use the g500 cause of acceleration issues. g500 is also really top heavy and the sensor isnt centered. Plug in the g400 and play. Out of box it has 1000hz polling, and a few dpi presets 400-800-1600-3600 i think.

The g400 also works great with a qck pad which you can probaly find for 10 bucks.
