10,000 Australian to spend, What to buy, what to buy... what to buy.....

Thread Starter
I want the very best, The best of the best, THE BIGGEST MONSTROSITY OF AN ENTHUSIAST MACHINE YOU CAN THINK OF, And i want it in 3 weeks time, You My dear overclock.net hase... THREE WEEKS to help me Build her, I shall call her.... (someone think of a name) And i am doing it, not because it's a good buy(It's totaly not, no-one needs this kind of power lulz, But i want it) But because i just got a massive pay rise and i want to treat myself.

Here's what i'm thinking.

a 3960x or a 3930k I'm not sure, I've read reviews, and the one game i mainly play benefits alot from the extra cache, that and i've always wanted something... "Extreme"

atleast, 8GB of ram, but we have overkill here, I want more, I WANT MOAR, So i want something preferbly running at 2133mhz or greater, in atleast 8GB preferably more, This is overclock.net, Not "Smart buyers.net" i want overkill.

SSD's... well i'm thinking of a PCIE SSD, Maybe an OCZ revo drive, That should do it yes yes?

Cooling... Again, this is overclock.net, The first thing i'm going to do after she's put together is overclock the bajesus out of her, She's going to squeal for me. So, Given that i'm going with SB-E and likely 3-4Gpu's I want a good water cooling setup, I've never done watercooling before, Someone gotta help here tongue.gif That said it's going to be overclocked... ALOT, why? because i can.

Graphic cards... I've got a surround setup, I Game at 6040x1080, I want Grunt, Alot of grunt, Infact i want overkill, I want my computer to become the next super power, wich leaves only three real choices.

GTX 580 3GB TRI SLI (revo drive in the fourth)
HD6970 TRIFIRE(Revo drive in the fourth)
HD 6990 CROSSFIRE(revodrive with room to breathe)

I like details, Lots of details, i want max settings no matter what game i play, And chances are i'm going to upgrade to 5 30 inch 2560x1600p Monitors so as i said, Grunt, Give me MOAR, I want the best, and if the best isn't good enough MAKE A BETTER ONE.

Motherboards... I want Quad or Tri cards, and a revo drive, So i don't really know what my options are here.

Maybe an EVGA x79 classified? who knows, i havn't read alot, so OCN direct me, but i want a mobo that has enough grunt and capabilities to get SB-E to atleast 4.8-5.4

Powersupplies... i'm thinkking i'm going to need 2, PRobably two from corsair or seasonic, Not sure.
And i have no idea what case all this will fit in..

SO OVERCLOCK.NET GO FOURTH MY BRETHEREN

I took you mostly serious until you mentioned buying multiple 1600p monitors, that alone would destroy your budget. Not to mention you've already answered most of your own questions. If this is real, outside of maybe a Mobo, a case, and cooling you already know what you want.

Monitors are outside of the budget, And i can write them off as a work expenditure, This is purely just for the box

You could go quad SLI gtx 580 3gbs (do the 580 lightnings have WC blocks?) and have enough space left over for a revo drive or 2 if you decide to watercool them.
EDIT: I know you're in australia i'm just linking you stuff on newegg because you can find that by yourself on aussie sites.

And I believe that OCZ has a 1tb 2.5 inch Octane SSD coming out soon.

Case - silverstone temjin tj11 or tj07 (both are really good watercooling cases and look beautiful)

processor: i7 3930k (under watercooling should get 4.8 ghz+, not really worth the extra money for the extreme unless you have money left over after the rest of the build)

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231499 this or something else. Idk if there's higher Mhz quad channel ram. Depending on RAM space on the motherboard you might be able to double up on this.

Video cards: quad-SLI evga gtx 580 classified pre-installed waterblocks http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130733 or you can install waterblocks yourself for significantly less and add **** in other places.

Mobo: This http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128534 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131798 this (the asus one looks like it has better features imo)

HDDs: revoDrive boot drive or 1tb ocz octane 2.5 inch SSD w/ 2x (2x 3tb seagate HDDs) - essentially 4 hard drives in 2 different sets of double-hard drive raid 0

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256054 this thing, but a 1200w psu might be adequate. Not 100% sure though.

Sound Card (if you decide to go with the 2.5" 1tb octane SSD instead of the revodrive): Asus xonar essence stx
Headphones (if you get a a sound card): No idea, ask an audiophile :C (my personal choice for gaming would be the ATH ad900)

Keyboard: Deck Legend http://www.deckkeyboards.com/

Cooling: I have no idea but you'll definitely want to watercool this beast. Ask the watercooling section for advice here.

NO. Lightning blocks are custom PCBs too, so NO block will fit them. Only good 580 with waterblock pre installed is the EVGA one.

Thanks for the input, And yes the whole thing is going to be watercooled, I don't think you could cram this much stuff into one spot and aircool it at stock, let alone overclocked.

And i promise to fold for ocn when i am not gaming.

also OP, I hope you realize that if you wait for the amd 7900 series graphics cards and quadfire the 7970 that this thing will be much much much much MUCH more powerful than if you quad SLI 4 gtx 580s.

Well it won't be bought all at once, I plan on getting CPu+ mobo and using my current ram and graphic cards(460s) until i order the new cards, and water cooling setup, then the ram, then the shiney SSd's. so i'll start building in 3 weeks time, And hopefully the 7 series will be out soon enough.
