btw this is what i ran in prime for 9.5 hours

also, since i am not getting a blue screen, does this automatically point to PSU? especially because it says kernel power error

I would do a minimum of 12hours Prime and 50 passes IBT or LinX.

At that point, honestly...you'll just pull your hair out if one of the tests fail after the above set of time/runs. But the above are pretty good standards in terms of testing - i've never had an OC'd system have any corruption or instability if it met the above two requirements.

Good luck!

thanks for the reply! +rep. will test all night!

Since LinX and IBT are the same test, just because one crashes and the other doesn't, I'd not expect there to be a real problem.

It could be as simple as an outdated version which doesn't like your rig, or a bad download. Try other tests, if those all pass then ignore the trouble and delete the offending test. If you get trouble with other tests, especially at stock, then it's time to consider RMA for the motherboard and PSU (can't be too careful you know).

well the thing is, i get the same error when i play battlefield 3 online. within 10 minutes of playing everything just stops. and i get a kernel power error (no blue screen) and have to do a hard reboot. but this only happens when i play battlefield 3. i have tried a handful of other games and gotten no problems. 3d mark vantage even passes. more info on my BF3 issues can be found HERE

Also: If my PSU was faulty, would it definitely be crashing every time i run a CPU stability test, or would it take more than just load on the processor, like maybe simultaneous load on the GPU as well

Also, if it was my motherboard, i would almost certainly be getting some sort of blue screen

Not necessarily. Motherboard faults, are by their nature, kinda hard to diagnose.
It could be as simple as a loose VRM or chipset heatsink (Gigabyte are well known for such issues) that's just causing the system to lock hard when it overheats.

Update Just ran 50 passes of intel burn test. came back flawless
post #19 of 19
You're only using 6 GB of RAM?
And this happens at stock cpu settings, right?

Also, what are the gflops you get in LinX (before it crashes) and in Intel Burn Test?
