Hello! New and looking for feedback about hardware for Skyrim.

Hi everyone! As you can see i'm new here. It's been a few years since I built my last computer (and by a few I mean it's been eight years.. eek) so my knowledge is pretty.. rusty to say the least. I was wondering what you all thought would be my best hardware choices to run Skyrim well, within a $450 budget. Thanks for the feedback! wink.gif

I'm serious, even though it might seem like a stupid question.

Edit your profile to include the computer that you currently use, and we'll be able to give better feedback about upgrades.

That said, a Phenom II X4 955 + HD6850 (see my sig) runs it on High and is relatively cheap.

My current computer is an AMD Athlon 7750 2.7ghz dual core, 6 gb ddr2 ram, ATI Radeon HD 3200 running on Win 7 professional. I'm aware these specs are awful and figured that doing a new build would be my best hope, but if I can just upgrade that would be great too. Thanks!

EDIT: Sockpirate: I have it on PS3 already.. just the graphics look so much better on PC.

graphics DO look great on pc, but with a 450$ budget i dont think you can get anything better than the console.

amd cpus and gpus are mostly budget friendly, i love intel but i dont think your wallet will.

i would go with a phenom II 965 BE, no less than a gtx 460, maybe a 560Ti, get those two things for now, that is basically your whole budget or close to it...Save up a bit more money and get the rest. thumb.gif

Do you think something like this would suffice? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227369&cm_mmc=BF2011_listing-_-10-_-N82E16883227369&nm_mc=BF2011_listing

That is less than ideal for gaming. Too much CPU and not enough GPU. You'd need to turn the graphics so far down that it may look worse than a console.

Here's a suggestion:

Case: $33
Power Supply: $60
RAM: $21
Phenom II X4 955 CPU: $105
Motherboard + 6850 GPU combo: $180
Recycle your hard drive from your current computer because new hard drives are super expensive right now due to flooding in Thailand wiping out most of the planet's hard drive manufacturing capacity.

Total: $399
