As long as it's not directly contacting it, it'll be fine

I'd treat it just like a regular HDD, and they tend to be just fine with some outside air passing by.

Heat won't really affect them, I have mine sandwiched b/w two drives and I have seen no issues arise.

Unless you have your SSD sitting on your GPU or CPU... don't worry about it.

SSDs wont be hurt by heat. They also dont really heat up much on their own. Put it in one of your front bays and Profit!

The only way seeing "Heat" as a problem for the SSD is putting the SSD at the exhaust side of 4x GTX 480's while running Furmark. Other than that, you are fine. thumb.gif

It wont be a problem unless its a lot of heat coming from your GPU or CPU. My SSD doesnt produce any heat, I have it duct taped inside my rear panel where it doesnt get any air at all.

Here's a better analogy from my real job as to why you'll have no issue.

A lot of car makers put the powertrain control module in the engine bay. The module is basically a small ssd.

In the summer, temps get very hot located under the hood, yet we don't see many pcm failures.

So don't worry about heat.
