Anything more than that is for people who want to overclock for e-peen/benchmark reasons.

Personally I'd rather go with the i5 2300 if I was to get a quad core Intel without hyper threading, and the Xeon E3-1230 for a quad with hyper threading. The CPU alone is fast enough, you don't really NEED to overclock Sandy Bridge.

Most people would do fine with the i3 2100 too if they weren't running multi-GPU set ups.

People who aren't ignorant know better, nobody is running old cpus because having more cpu power is only for epeen and benchmarking.

At all times I was cpu limited, and people think I'm crazy for considering an upgrade to Ivy Bridge...

If you want to settle for lower fps than you can get with a modern system, go bulldozer or Phenom II. If you are aware that even the fastest cpu isn't fast enough for everything, buy the fastest and upgrade when faster comes out.

so going BD means you are getting lower fps than you can get from a modern system? Hmmm looking at those screen shoots looks an awfull lot like the FPS evga precision reports for my system every thing maxed out in skyrim.

I have Skyrim maxed out and never drop below 30 FPS with my FX-6100 oc'ed to 4.7Ghz and my GTX460 not overclocked at all.

Get the intel, bulldozer seriously runs hot and my friend rig hasnt been stable even when clock to 4.4ghz only on his 8150. There is more boards out there for sandy bridge and compatibility is good it just save a lot of trouble.....

I'm just pointing out my cpu, which is quite a bit faster than yours is a hindrance currently in a game like Skyrim.

Bulldozer provides substandard fps for someone looking to purchase a new rig in 2011.

Here is a hint:

394

700

Yours clocks lower, and is slower when clocked higher.

A bulldozer cpu at 4.2GHz is slower than an i7-2600k at 2.5GHz.

A Phenom II 970 at 3.7GHz is faster than a bulldozer cpu at 4.2GHz.

Substandard.

I was an AMD Phenom II user before I upgraded to my current platform. No regrets.

If this is for gaming go with the I5 2500K. The Bulldozer is isn't even worth it, its all hype and no performance. It can't beat the I5 or the I7, pff it can't even beat out the old Phenom II. If your just gaming there is no point in getting the I7. You pay 100 dollars extra for hyper threading and 8mb's of L3 cache. Right now games don't make use of hyperthreading so its not worth the extra money.

How is that not helpful? Because it's negative information about AMD. Get over it the

Actually i will object, the extra $100 is a good investment. Hyperthreading for $100 is not worth it? who are you kidding?
