I don't really see the point waiting, AMD will have a single-GPU card out fairly soon, which matches/beats a GTX590/6990, and has OC headroom.

Move along everyone, just a AMD/ATI Fanboi here.

Got a 480 at launch and when overclocked modestly and it's still able to max or almost max all games at 1080P. Pretty sure the 5870 can't do that.

All DX11 cards probably won't support DX11.1 Unless it is more software base than hardware base. Plus, no need to fret. There really isn't DX11 games at all so I highly doubt 11.1 will be used

I am pretty sure that it won't matter by that point. tongue.gif Unless the cards have stupid high amounts of Vram. 50GB/s bandwidth can handle about 1GB before bottlenecking the GPU. 100GB/s bandwidth can handle 1GB and some 2GB arrangements like SLI or CFX 2GB cards. But 2GB+ is best handled by 150GB/s bandwidth at least. This is my experience so... this is what I've seen. tongue.gif

I think I might skip the 600 series too.... the 400 series is still very powerful.

Hmmm, this means that the new top end GPUs will arrive in Q4 of 2012. At this time IVY-E will spawn. Looks like a nice time to burn some cash. I hope I can wait that long - my 5850 screams "update" and I really need that CUDA. So even if AMD makes the best card ever in Q1 - it would be without CUDA frown.gif

I'm sighing so hard right now, got someone wanting to buy my computer now and keep telling them to wait because i'll be going ivy bridge/kepler soon... but it seems to keep getting delayed on both departments.

GK110 looks more like the last quarter of the year in the graph.
If this turns out true then its gay. Everyone was expecting early 2012 launch of the high-end chips.

I also like how the GTX 580 successor is going to be dual-gpu while the much faster 590 succesor will be single-gpu, weird.

Thread Starter
Makes it possible to quad-sli 4 Gk112 cards instead of being limited to two dual-gpu cards. The cost and power consumption with that set-up would be staggering. A lot of CPU power would be required to feed it. Like someone mentioned above, Ivy Bridge-E would make a nice match.

So if this roadmap is accurate, when the AMD 7970 comes out in January it will be the best single GPU card on the market for almost an entire year? I know the super high end market is only a drop in the ocean when it comes to revenues, but from a pride/reputation standpoint I'm surprised Nvidia is okay with this.
