I was inspired by Cakewalk_S thread Modifying Heat Spreader of GTX 560 Guide and Cravinmilds successful attempt.
So i attempted it myself. At first I lapped the Antec 620 and the IHS.
Then I just disregarded the IHS altogether and strapped the Antec 620 directly to the die.
Keep in mind that my GPU's have already been modded with Antec 620's used for cooling. See work log for info
Before

IHS removed

Die cleaned off

IHS Top lapped

IHS Bottomed lapped

Antec 620 Lapped

Temps before lapping the IHS w/Antec 620's strapped to the stock IHS
Lows at 34c & 35c
Peaks at 54c % 56c

After lapping the IHS and Antec 620
Lows at 30c & 31c = 4c & 5c drop
Peaks at 49c % 51c = 5c drop

Then I just scrapped the IHS altogether and strapped the Antec 620's straight to the die!

Final result:
Lows at 32c & 32c = 2c & 3c drop from original mod
Peaks at 47c % 47c = 7c & 9c drop from original mod
