Okey doke.
Just bought a WD TV Live, got it hooked up, found out I can share not only Hard Drives, but disc drives as well (basically farming out my DVD player to my computer now. Nifty!)
The thing is though - my computer is loud. It's default power settings make the thing draw a lot of power and make a lot of noise - not ideal for when I just want to stream media from it / keep the Hard Drives spinning.
I'm wondering what settings I can safely turn off in order to use this just as an HTPC. Basically, when I'm sitting at it, I run it in one power mode, and otherwise, in the other.
Ideally, I'd like this power mode to do the following:
1: All but disable the GPU so that it doesn't draw power (and thus be able to turn my fans down considerably)
2: Lower Processor intensity (Not sure how low I can go while still having decent streaming ability from the hard drives over the network.)
3: Keep the Disc Drive enabled.
An ancillary question alone the same lines however:
If a computer is powered on, but not logged in, are it's hard drives still shared over the network?
