Any way to fix flickering shadows in Skyrim?

CCC settings are default, with morphological filtering checked. Running the 11.11a drivers. Crossfire disabled.

Also I got no mods for textures or performance or anything of that nature.

No matter what the in game settings are, the shadows flicker every 5 secs, and also the shadows are very rough looking, and blocky, no matter what setting I got the shadow detail on. Also odd, I get 45-60FPS on all settings turned up including AA and AF, and FXAA except for shadow detail, but if I put shadow detail on ultra, I get 15-20FPS in town, and the shadows don't look any better.

The shadows look so terrible, I would rather just have them turned off, so if all else fails is there a way to disable the shadows in this game?

Have you looked at some mods at skyrim nexus? Also you might want to fiddle with your Skyrim.ini

I asked on the Nexus forums if any mods fixed the shadows, and apparently not. I have also heard others with similar GPUs to me say they got no problems at all. I've been seeking a solution since release date and apparently nobody has any answers.

I would rather just disable the shadows if anyone knows how at least until Bethesda or ATI fixes this problem.

I also see that flickering shadow occasionally, although it usually goes away after a minute or so.

Considering you have a pretty high end system... try these shadow config settings (change in your SkyrimPrefs.ini). I was getting really bad flickering shadows using my previous config and I couldn't pin down the setting that was causing it. This is not a config for those who have framerate issues, as it is a little more taxing on your system! I organized my config file alphabetically so that some settings are easier to find. Keep in mind that this is my entire INI file, so copy and paste at your own risk (and I recommend making a backup of your original config file before doing so). At the very least, if you are going to copy the whole thing, make sure you change your resolution and sD3DDevice to match your system... AND MAKE SURE YOU SET YOUR INI TO READ-ONLY(this is very important so that the game does not overwrite some of these values once you start the game). Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Yes, Yes there is!!

Try my skyrim.ini and prefs, bare in mind my ugrids are set to 7.

Shadows are smoother, darker and dont flicker.
