[BI] Amazingly AOL still has 3.5 million dialup subscribers - Page 4

I never had AOL but my grandma did. For me it was all about those free Netzero trials! I remember getting DSL and thinking, OMG, you just open the browser and it works! It's always there! I thought it was the greatest thing in the world.biggrin.gif

I know right, the days of turning PC on, going to watch TV for half a hour, come back, open AOL and login then afk for another half hour, come back and go into a chatroom A/S/Ling, log off, repeat process next day.

My Dad still uses his AOL email address. Yikes. Luckily, he has broadband internet now though. I still have customers that want AOL as their homepage after I fix their computer. Some people are lost without it.

Sorry our country is almost 22 times the size of yours with a lot of low population areas.

OT: The good old days...being 6 and trying to go on the internet at 11pm on a schoolnight and my parents hearing the modem and running in to yell at me to go to bed lol.

My grandparents are one of them. The only thing keeping them on it is that they pay like 15$/mo and when they go to their other house (1100mi South) they just dial up. You can connect from anywhere in AOLs service area for that $15/mo (hotels, vacation houses, other peoples houses, etc) I'm talking them into a mobile hot spot, though, they hate the speed but love the price and 'portability'.

You kidding me?! AOL is EVIL! I remember having AOL a couple of years ago when i started on Dial up and DSL connection with my old HP desktop and my god, they were so evil when i tried to close my AOL account and i kept getting billed for the service and i called customer service and it was another country?! AOL is hugely prone for hackers too lol. Glad i never stayed with AOL. I hated AOL with a passion!rolleyes.gif

AOL was never around $18, I remember paying from 2000 to 2006, it was $23.90 a month for freaking dialup. I had a POS modem or whatever and got 4KB download. Holy hell.
