Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 w/ Hyper 212+ Evo - Possible?

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

Building a friend a new rig soon, and we're planning for the Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3, (link below), and the Hyper 212+ Evo, in addition to 4x4GB Corsair Vengeance RAM.

Mobo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128512

Hyper 212+ EVO
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

RAM:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233143

Question is whether we will be able to utilize all four slots of RAM in addition to the Hyper 212+ EVO, or if the EVO will be covering a few slots.

Thanks guys!

just get low profile ram to be safe.

8gb is good enough anyways.

The other thing you could do is set the EVO as Pull and remove the back exhaust fan and put it somewhere else.. Airflow shouldn't change.

other people just mount their fans higher.

8GB is more than enough unless your friend is a video editor

It won't take that much space

It will fit fine, i got the same mobo and 212+ and i just use ram slot 2 and 4, i think, if not is 1 and 3, don't remember right now, either way my ram runs at dual channel in those slots, so yours and that heatsink will be fine thumb.gif

@above he's using all 4 dimms.

Question is: can he fit the slots closest to the CPU w/ vengeance ram.

My solution: face the fan towards exhaust and pull air through the HSF. your airflow doesn't change. and you'll fit all 4.

That's what I'm thinking, I don't want to face the fan upwards/downwards (when the case is standing), if that makes sense.

There should be room. There's enough clearance on my board for tall RAM. If not, you can just slide the fan up the heatsink a little.

Normally Air flows from front to back.

That means tower coolers are installed with the fans perpendicular to the ground.

What i'm saying you do is to move the fan from the front (near the dimms) to the back (near the IO ports) so your fan pulls air from front to back.
this will free up your dimms and still maintain the same airflow.

In some situations, this arrangement might result in cooler temps. (can't find the thread they did on this).

If you'd like to you can cut out the back exhaust grill and remove the exhaust fan so you only have the single HSF fan blowing out..
Or you could just slide your fan up some.
