I think Ubisoft PR and management departments should get fired because they're more than likely the ones responsible for all the crap we've been getting from Ubi in the last few years. Forcing devs to release unfinished buggy games and the way they're trying to milk all of their franchises is just dumb, period.

As for my own views on piracy, well, I don't see the need to pirate a game when there's Steam out there.
Gaming platforms is where the future's at, and some people are going down that road, but hey guess which big producer isn't? If Ubi are really that annoyed by piracy, how about they launch their own online gaming platform like Blizzard did with Battle.net? That way at least they can justify the always-on DRM...

::edit:: You know why I don't have my PC watercooled? Because I can't afford to spend 500+ bucks on a custom loop that I want. You know why I don't race/drift? Because I can't afford the car and the parts for it. You know why I don't mod computer cases? Because I can't afford to spend the time and money on such a hobby. See where I'm going? These things are all luxuries, and because these luxurious hobbies are outside of my income I don't partake in that hobby. Others here on the forum can do all of these things and more, because they have the cashflow to be able to do so. It's the concept of living within your means, and if you can't afford a luxury than you shouldn't have it, certainly shouldn't be stealing for it. My previous post was a bit rude, I apologize for coming across so harsh. But people that have this sense of entitlement irritate me greatly, and your generalizations and stereotyping rubbed me the wrong way, sorry for responding in such a sarcastic way.

+1

I am no spoon fed spoiled child. I grew up in a third world country with enough pain that I want to convey here. I did not own any games or PC until I could afford them.

You know what the problem with piracy is? It's too damn easy to get any game you want in a relatively short period of time. Not only that, in the case of say Assassin's Creed Revelations you can actually get the game before it's even released to the masses.

This is the issue. Who is going to just sit there and patiently wait for the game they really want to play when they can start playing ahead of time? I think that's the problem.

I do believe that a lot of us do end up buying the games that we really, really like. The problem is, for many of us, those games are few and far between. Personally I only buy games I really, really love. This year the only games I even remotely care about are Assassin's Creed Revelations, The Witcher 2 and Skyrim. I've purchased Skyrim and the Witcher 2. I'm patiently waiting for Assassin's Creed. Have I been tempted to find it, download it and play it? You're darn right I have. But I haven't. Only because I love the series and they are among my favorite games of all time.

I myself have not paid for full retail price for a game in 5 years, most I've paid is $30.
As for ubisoft I stopped supporting them after what they did with Far Cry 2 and since they enforced always on DRM, that was the last nail in the coffin for me.

Far Cry 2 was actually a good game. I liked it. Never had a problem with Far Cry 2 DRM.

But is it stealing or is it sharing? A friend or stranger lets you borrow a game for a day, does that make you a thief for playing that game he let you borrow since you didn't pay for your own copy? What if a person downloads a game through file sharing? Is it sharing or stealing? What's the difference between a friend or stranger letting you borrow a game for a day than downloading it from someone else who is sharing the file on the internet? That's the issue here I believe. It's not stealing, so they call it pirating. But if your not selling it after you download, then you really aren't pirating the game because you don't have the intent to sell illegal downloaded copies. Problem with games is that there really is a non-return policy for them. Say you buy a $60 game, and you absolutely hate it. Most stores wouldn't let you return it. Now that's not exactly fair, paying $60 for a game that your stuck with. I think a lot has to do with that as well. People afraid to put down $60 for a game that they might think is crap when they start playing it. No one wants to waste $60.
