It looks like it can do light gaming, and the processor is supposed to be decently fast. (Would it be on par with, say, an A6?)

I was looking at this as well http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-A53TA-XE2-Brown-Laptop-Computer/dp/B005Q5FMJI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1319585122&sr=8-1, but it's a bit over $100 more. I was hoping this laptop would go on sale during Black Friday/Cyber Monday, but it didn't, and I'm not sure *how* much stronger it actually is. Then again, it does have a 7200RPM HDD, which is nice.

Any thoughts? Mostly I'd be using this for college purposes and maybe to play some games like Team Fortress 2, and just about anything better than my 2007 Compaq, what with its AMD Turion processor, 1GB of RAM, and dying screen, would be a godsend.

If you are willing to spend the $529, do yourself a favor and spend $20 more on this. Will outperform both those laptops in ever aspect.
