Annoying problem!

Hey there Guys!
I am experiencing a very annoying problem with my main pc! When i shut down and try to start it back up it wont! it just starts for a very very short time(like 9-10 ms) and then back down....i cant try again until i hear the noise of the speakers when they are closed(A short base sound) , i noticed that when it shuts down the psu still runs!
i have to try a lot of times to get it to start! a checked the power u button, the wires and everything.!!! any ideas whats the prob or if you know about such a problem how can i fix it?
i am using:
Intel Core i5 760 2.8ghz to 4.2ghz
MSI P55A-GD65 MOBO
8GB g.skill 1333 RAM
Gainward GTX 470GS

Considering what you've said I think there may be a problem with either the PSU or the Motherboard, try swapping the PSU and seeing what happens with another computer.

i dont think its the psu cuz when it starts up is fine and stable!!! maybe the motherboard!

btw do you know which are the wires that i have to connect on the 24 pin so it would start up jus to check if its ok?? green and black i think??
