Modern Warfare's 2 plot has no basis in reality, either. Have you played the campaign? It is ridiculous.

You see, that doesn't fly with me. You asked for a scenario where you could play as an invading force on US soil, and Red Alert 2 is a perfect example of this. Sorry, but they didn't have access to the graphics technology that is considered so commonplace today 10 years ago. Instead, they used live actors to record cut scenes.

The idea in the game was still there, and it was pretty damn obvious that the developers were depicting an outside force invading the United States, regardless of "cartoony graphics" (during a time when they lacked the technology to create something more realistic.) Look at the video I linked. They said to capture the "capitalist shrine," the world trade center, and the first mission on the Soviet campaign involves you destroying the Pentagon.

Not sure how it gets any more blunt than that.

The new Rainbow Six Patriots was just recently revealed and the newest game informer mag had an article about it. Takes place in the US, where all the militias/para military groups that we've all heard about or seen youtube videos of, basically start fighting back against the gov on our own US soil. The game's storyline has you take the place of both team rainbow and the terrorist group(s), for a unique perspective on the first person storyline. Not sure if we're allowed to quote the paper magazine article but it seems the GI web page doesn't have as much detail as the magazine article does.

But yeah, expect this game to make some hubbub in the future. Sure it's not Iranians doing the fighting, but it is american vs. american and it takes place on our own soil which is always a touchy spot because we're suppose to be the nation that doesn't get hit @ home. Re: 9/11's mental impact

Not one mention of CnC Generals? I think that's as close as you are going to get with your argument.

I gave up on CnC after Yuri's Revenge. YR and RA2 were a ton of fun.

I looked through those missions. Not one of them on the Chinese or GLA side is on US soil or involves a US landmark. Care to try again?

Also, again, Red Alert 2 is a sci-fi RTS, We're not looking at what parts of the game are real (terror drones, chrono troopers, and gigantic zeppelins with shark-faces. Enough said) . We're looking at the idea that centered around an outside force invading US soil. It's there, and it is very black-and-white.

Quoted for truth.

I dunno, I tend to have a bit of anger and apathy towards these issues, but people really need to stop being oversensitive. If there's a video game out there that has content that would offend you, if you're not going to do what you should do (harden up and deal with it), at the very least just don't play it and most of all don't rain on everyone else's parade.

I don't care if someone's husband/wife/whoever died in _____ tragedy and ____ video game offends them. Demands for censorship because people can't get over something and move on are ridiculous. Life sucks, deal with it. Don't make it worse for everyone else.

No, but you do play as an under cover agent working with Russians murdering dozens of civilians(and police)...
