he he, i was in your boat mate and i almost waited until next year for a 680 set up. I just couldn't do it and i pulled the trigger on 3x MSI Lightning 580 Extremes, couldnt have been happier, and when the time comes, these high end 580's your and mine included will fetch top dollar when we actually need to sell them.

I was in the same boat as u not so long ago. I asked the same questions, had the same needs and in the end bought the matrix. Massive upgrade from my 560ti. You will be looking at rocking the fastest single NVIDIA card for almost another full year yet. I've benched my card at 1027core. With ali5tls modding my card isles at 19c-20c. This card rocks.

*god i hate typing off my cell, stupid spell check sucks

As far as memory go's the tighter the timings the snappier they will be. 16gb is overkill!!! I would get 8 gb's with better timings to go with that new setup. You will not be disappointed. Something alone these lines.

Gahhh!
I already ordered them last night...

Couldn't I just manually overclock them and tighten up the timing anyways?
Would the XMP profiles have tighter timings for those sticks?
The 1.35 volts see to indicate those memory sticks have some headroom which is why Liked them in the first place.
Hmmm...

It's a fantastic card for 1080p gaming and easily overclocks to 950 MHz. Just make sure you manually set the fan speeds (GPU Tweak or MSI Afterburner), because the default settings are useless.

So no problems with V-Ram with gaming on my monitor then???
From what I've played lately BF3 is the only game that uses up to 1.5 GB of VRAM at 1080p. I think there's no need for more at that resolution, because even a GTX 570 with "only" 1.28 GB doesn't seem to suffer from it in BF3.

Don't send that 580 back, keep it and enjoy:thumb:
Good price too, that's about what I paid for my first 480 when they came out, not including the aftermarket cooler.
I think it was a smart purchase, even the DCII's are good cards, that Matrix is even better.

I was looking over your system build, that's a good selection of parts.
You mentioned getting either a Seasonic or XFX psu, I'd really recommend going with Seasonic, as XFX may not necessarily be using Seasonic for an oem with all their psu's. I've been running two 480's on an older Seasonic 750 watt with no issues. If you're worried about enough power for a future sli setup, they have a new 1000 watt 80 Plus Titanium model out now. Otherwise they also make an 850 watt model.

The Silverstone FT02B-W is a very classy case. I like their "unibody" construction, although I've always lusted over the TJ-07.
Which are still going for over 300 bucks:p

I loved my matrix platinum cards. I had two in SLI, and they were by far the fastest cards I have ever used. [H] barely got them to 1000mhz but I had a pretty easy time getting them to run at 1050mhz stable in SLI, although I used 975mhz for daily gaming. I've thought about selling my 590 and getting a single one again to hold me over until something better comes out.

As far as the case, I would double check that it fits in an FT02. The 590 just BARELY squeezes in the and the matrix is far more massive than it is.

congrats biggrin.gif how much fps are you getting in BF3 on ultra settings ?
