[softpedia] AMD Not Competing with Intel Anymore, Goes Mobile - Page 13

standby for the intel CEO to run naked thru the street screaming "WE ON TOP OF THE WORLD!" . In all seriousness though, this sucks as it kinda looks like intel can do whatever they want with the prices of their processors now.

Huh? Lol. Mobile market means what to you? Phones? That's just one category.

Weird how they said they might be changing one headache for another. Nvidia just started really playing the CPU game and AMD is already 10+ years ahead.

You guys think so black and white, there is no way AMD is going to stop production on Server and Mainstream chips. The article said they just arent going to compete with intel anymore. They are going to focus in a more lucrative market for them since they have fusion, Its a very smart move. If they do decide to make an ARM processor (which i dont think they will) they could do it before intel and beat them if ARM takes over x86.
For AMD diversification is the key. They cant beat any of their competitors out right so they need to hit all competors at all sides to make money. More products, more potential buyers, more potential money.

How about a definitive and helpful answer, just finished a graveyard shift and not in the mood for sarcasm.

My apologies, I know sometimes sitting around doing nothing at night time can be stressful.

The article basically says that AMD is not leaving the CPU market, they're just going to be putting more attention towards the mobile market. Quite simple and easy to understand after reading such a short article in less than 5 minutes. thumb.gif

Future of the consumer market = gaming consoles + mobile gadgets/computers

As for work, desktops will always be here.

Great job guys, root for the one that has high prices, not the competition trying to make consumer market more fair-price-wise.

Implying that who we cheer for actually has an impact on the products AMD releases...
