Ikea Vika Hyttan desktop (stainless) and Vika Moliden legs.

Overall Ikea is 100% crap compared to ANYTHING of quality. Even that "stainless" desktop is junk. Its two thin layers of stainless steel with 1/8" of MDF underneath that on both side and between the MDF layers (about 1" or so) is nothing more than thin cardboard waffle structure.

Its a nice desk for the money but I wanted something much nicer that would last me for years to come.

I replaced that Ikea desk with one from Room and Board.

100% handmade in the USA. I got a Room and Board Portica desk. Top is 100% solid walnut (1 1/4" thick) and bottom is hand welded stainless steel with mitered corners....

Expensive but worth every penny.

I'd like to disagree. Was at Ikea I think last month and the Galant seems really solid. People here pile a bunch of stuff onto it and their's doesn't break. Also, if I could spend $1000 on a desk, I'd spend that cash on something else first.

Ditto 1K on a desk is retarded. IKEA has the best desk I have seen so far in the office dept. and the majority of people here recommend them that's good enough for me.

LOL @ the $1000 desk. You could have one custom made out of metal/wood for less than that, especially with that simplistic design.

@OP...Personally, I'd go with the Galant.
