AquagraFX copper or nickel???

Thread Starter
Ive made the decision a couple of days ago of getting 2x 570 watercooled with an AquagraFX nickel plated waterblock but lately reading threads about ek and koolance nickle plating problems kinda made turn to copper, i havent seen that many ppl talk about these waterblocks but benchies show great results.

Should i keep my plan of going with nickel or go with copper?? Distilled water or coolant (like pc ice) with either one???

i haven't ordered my wc parts yet, but for what it may be worth, i decided to just go with the coolant (pc ice clear). it's only a few extra bucks for my peace of mind with my planned $800+ wc setup.

i decided on this because the only block available for my card (GTX 570 HD) is nickel plated.

i think if i had the choice, i may have just gone copper with aquagrafx instead to remove all doubt.

copper has the best thermal conductivity it just is prone to oxidation so it needs to be maintained. I would go with distilled, you can find people having residue issues with every premix out there but nobody has had residue issues with straight distilled.

Thats kinda the same mentality i have when it comes to coolant. What block you gonna be using for your non reference???

To be honest I'm in the same boat really. I've got EK GTX 580 blocks and the HF supreme and blocks are corroding and I need to re do my loop again. for CPU block I'm def going for raystorm and for the GPU I'm going aquagrafx but copper or nickle that's the question on my mind as well. DO I let bad experience with EK stop me from getting nickle versions for fear of the same thing down the line? Or go with copper.

If you go distilled water I would recommend copper. You deff can't get Koolance with distilled water, PM for information on that. If you do get a nickel plated block you should use coolant because of the anti-corrosives in the coolant. I would recommend using distilled water and getting a copper block. You should just replace the distilled water every couple of months.

If you just go pure copper, cpu + gpu and rad is whatever, and put boatloads of .999 silver, how effective is that going to be?

Well, I've decided to go nickel + distilled water, either way i have to go with nickel, aquagrafx copper is out of stock right now and not everybody carries it. This whole thing with koolance corrosion since like ppl overreacting to 1 or 2 bad blocks out of 20.

Check this thread out:

Also check out the emails I went back and forth with Koolance, they are in the middle of the thread.
