GTX 580 noticeably hotter than before. - Page 2

lol, my bad i was looking at blindrage sig. redface.gif

I cant remember what the instructions said for those Hydro coolers, I honestly scrunch up instructions and throw them over my shoulder....its a man thing. My Matrix 580 has a H70 modded to the chip and stock fans on the shroud...its a hybred. The h70 is intake from the bottom of the case, my H100 sucks it all up and exausts out the top.

Have you reseated the card. Its most likely the rad in there, the card itself should not have changed just the enviorment its in.

the card is seated tight now...although it is slightly bent on the end because its too long..and the power cables is slight pressing it down..but i guess thats normal.

I suspected its the rad but when I touched the rad, it isnt hot at all..its in fact cold.

I guess it was the cpu air cooler i had...my cpu was always at 30C, so maybe the cold air that comes out of the cpu air cooler is bounces on the case and cools my gpu too...thats what i think, because i didnt have this temp increase on my gpu until i installed the h60. The rad is cold as metal. so its not the rad...i did remove some unwanted parts like extension hdd bays where its caving the air coming in...i removed it and my idle temp is now 33C to 34C.

You're correct. Many people overlook the fact that the cpu fan is so close to the heatsink. Its proximity to the heatsink spreads more air around the case than it does to the heatsink which is why your gpu temps were a bit cooler when you had the cpu fan. If there is one negative thing about watercooling, it is that there will be less air circulating inside the case to cool other components. I still can't believe your GTX 580 is running so cool. Those are some great temps for that monster card thumb.gif

Ambients have alot to do with temps too, When I got up this morning, my GTX 580 was idling at 29c. Mind you, the room temp was 19c smile.gif

When the room warms up to about 25c if goes to an idle of 34c ish.

Anyways, idle temps are irrelevant, it's load temps that determine if everything is running to plan smile.gif

Yes im pretty aware of that, i have the same temps as you when waking up in the morning. But only around 27C. I base my idle temps when its ON the whole day... So yeah it got hotter. smile.gif

Yes it actually does. Ordered some fans so i can have push pull config on the h60 and another to suck in some air....
Yes that card is quite cool it has 3 fans built in. I will buy one of those again definitely.

these were my temps when i was using using a cpu air cooler. its so much colder...and silent, but not as silent as the watercooler
449

and these are my temps with the Corsair h60.... I had installed 3 120mm intake fans so my idle for GPU got a bit lower, and its only have half the speed cuz i dont want noises. all my fans are set at half speeds. my 200mm exhaust on top though is at full speed because its so slow even at full power.
419

maybe i just got to add another 200mm exhaust on top to bring it back the way it was before...
sigh....so much for a watercooler...i had to buy more fans resulting more noise. compared to when i used a normal cpu air cooler

I wouldn't worry about it. The temps are fine, get back to enjoying that rig. Something to keep in mind. Sometimes adding fans can actually raise temps a little due to conflicting airflow in the case. Just noticed how much I'm posting tonight. Ugh bored outta my mind.

My idle temps before I went h20 were pretty bad on my Gigabyte 580 GTX. it was idling sometimes at 40 - 50° and went up to 96-98° on load while playing BF3.

i guess you had a bad airflow...your hdds are hot. my card never went that far, the hottest it had was 73C @70% fanspeed when i was trying to overclock it. at 900mhz 1.1v full load. I was really buying asus direct cu II but it was out of stock so I chose gigabyte instead because of the three fans that comes with it, like the asus have...while Evga designs runs hot, its the same as reference designs... are you sure your card is a Gigabyte. You luck H20 is available in your country....My country never sells those...its like its not "in" yet...Some store imports but always run out of stocks....i have no choice but to order in america and wait for long shipping

How are you getting 19c on your cards? That's quite impossible unless your room is very cold. GTX 580's are known to get hot. Also it's the load temps that are way more important to look at than just idling. I really think you might wanna consider a better case but we all haven't seen pictures of your case and how your airflow or cables are set up. Especially fans.

Anyhow, sorry about what happened the other night. Internet got disconnected resulting me not being able to help you via chatting on steam.

I blame your Japan internet. They have hackers out there lol. jk.
