I wouldn't call it "crap" but can hear a slight difference between my Galaxy S II and iPad (which I am sure uses the same DAC as the iPhone)...
Overall the ipad sounds a bit cleaner... which I was a bit disappointed for an enthusiastic Samsung smartphone...
I still listen to my music on my Galaxy S II but like I said, it's a slight difference IMO...
I use music through PowerAMP and play FLAC audio and tune the equalizer to my liking because I like extreme lows and highs although you can hear that 'HISS' on some guitars...
On my iPad, with the same equalizers, I don't get that 'HISS'...
I don't get any of that 'shielding' noise mentioned in the Anandtech article as that is just horrible on the EDGE network...
This is onto a set of Ultimate Ears Triple Fi's 10, which sound amazing...

The customization is insane. I upgraded to a Galaxy S (U.S. Cellular didn't, and might never, get anything more powerful then the Motorola Electrify anytime soon), and it's absolutely incredible. My boss has an iPhone, and even he praises the Galaxy for it's beautiful screen and look. With WinAmp, I can hear clearer notes then when I had an iPod Classic (with the same generic headphones; with better options, it can only get better).
Haha. Enjoy having a smartphone
