Bringing this log back from the dead, for another couple updates before I'll call it officially complete.
Didn't really take any photos of the process adding the 3rd 7970, the flow meter or the coolant temp probe, but I will be adding lots of photos once my
acrylic gets here
Just spent another chunk of change so I can make the move to acrylic tubing.
Here's the parts list I went with:
Decided also to get another D5 pump to replace the mcp350 I had underneath the false floor behind the
monsta 480. I had a dilemma with that because once I had installed the Koolance flow meter, the flow rate
was ABYSMAL. 0.9 lpm. I had then upped the speed on the EK D5 to the "5" setting, and cranked the
mcp350 as high as it would go, and even then the rate was at 1.6 lpm. Still terrible. So I threw in my 3rd
mcp350 next to the other one assuming it'd go up. It did, but only by 0.3 lpm. I did some research on how the
flow meter was calibrated, and there's around a 1.5 lpm difference between a timed flow rate and the flow rate
the sensor reads. so technically, you could call the flow at 3.4 lpm. Even still, that's really slow. Not only that,
but the 3rd mcp350 I threw in started buzzing like crazy. I'm assuming the bearing needs to be oiled up. But
with the headache of hearing the buzzing, and the realization that the mcp350 pumps aren't up to par to D5s
in the least bit, I might as well replace the two mcp350s with another D5, which will be much faster than the
two and much quieter.
I also decided to go with acrylic because with this most recent refresh, the way the tubing had a mind of it's
own was making me mad. the pattern of the tubing is thrown off now and I'm not really happy with it. So I
decided it's time to move on from plasticizing tubing.
I also was able to finally install my new EVGA 1600W G2 I had got from EVGA as an early adopter. I was also
helped out on getting 2 extra sleeved cables for my 3rd 7970 by them as well. Very excited to know I wont
have to worry about power any time soon.
Here are some shots I took since I did the refresh. Performance is amazing.Edited by lifeisshort117 - 8/27/14 at 11:19pm
