[Build Log] Narada - 800D - Page 23

Ordered the last watercooling parts I'll need for the build.

7970 heatkiller block/back plate
koolance flow meter with lcd screen
xspc temperature sensor with lcd screen
some fittings to make it all work

I'm excited, but also very tired lol it's 3:17am here, spent about 4 hours trying to figure out exactly what I needed to make the temp sensor and flow meter an actual possibility.

Bringing this log back from the dead, for another couple updates before I'll call it officially complete.

Didn't really take any photos of the process adding the 3rd 7970, the flow meter or the coolant temp probe, but I will be adding lots of photos once my

acrylic gets here wink.gif

Just spent another chunk of change so I can make the move to acrylic tubing.

Here's the parts list I went with:

pjqSluh.png

Decided also to get another D5 pump to replace the mcp350 I had underneath the false floor behind the
monsta 480. I had a dilemma with that because once I had installed the Koolance flow meter, the flow rate
was ABYSMAL. 0.9 lpm. I had then upped the speed on the EK D5 to the "5" setting, and cranked the
mcp350 as high as it would go, and even then the rate was at 1.6 lpm. Still terrible. So I threw in my 3rd
mcp350 next to the other one assuming it'd go up. It did, but only by 0.3 lpm. I did some research on how the
flow meter was calibrated, and there's around a 1.5 lpm difference between a timed flow rate and the flow rate
the sensor reads. so technically, you could call the flow at 3.4 lpm. Even still, that's really slow. Not only that,
but the 3rd mcp350 I threw in started buzzing like crazy. I'm assuming the bearing needs to be oiled up. But
with the headache of hearing the buzzing, and the realization that the mcp350 pumps aren't up to par to D5s
in the least bit, I might as well replace the two mcp350s with another D5, which will be much faster than the
two and much quieter.

I also decided to go with acrylic because with this most recent refresh, the way the tubing had a mind of it's
own was making me mad. the pattern of the tubing is thrown off now and I'm not really happy with it. So I
decided it's time to move on from plasticizing tubing.

I also was able to finally install my new EVGA 1600W G2 I had got from EVGA as an early adopter. I was also
helped out on getting 2 extra sleeved cables for my 3rd 7970 by them as well. Very excited to know I wont
have to worry about power any time soon.

Here are some shots I took since I did the refresh. Performance is amazing.

Good luck with that, the competition is pretty steep. But you have a chance I guess. smile.gif

And are you using a D5 pump? I see you also use the Uni Holder... how silent is your pump?
Mine is driving me nuts... damn vibrations. Yours is mounted to the radiator, right? I really can't figure out how to silence my pump more.

Mine is secured to the back of my 650D case.

Yesterday I bought an Phobya Noise Destructor. Will see if that will help.

lol thanks. I know the competition is pretty steep. but I might as well. don't really have anything to lose.

and yes I'm actually using two D5s. I have my pumps set at the "5" setting, but then turned down on my pump/fan controller.

honestly, the only thing that makes noise that I can distinctively hear is the PSU fan. My pumps are near completely silent.

Really?
Can you hear your PSU? I can't. Well maybe if I put my ear to the case.

Would've thought the EVGA unit is rather silent. I "only" have an HX series Corsair.

Thank you sir. I definitely tried to fill all the real estate I had in the case. I don't really like empty spaces in cases.

Yeah man, it was like the ONE psu from EVGA that didn't have a silent mode for the fan. That being said it's also a 1600 watt with a Gold efficiency rating. So I'm okay with it. But that also should make a statement for the Noiseblocker E-Loops I have. They were near 25 bucks a pop. Worth every penny.
