Gaming PC for 1000

Thread Starter
First time posting, and first time building. Looking to put together a pc for about $1000 including a Monitor but not keyboard/mouse, for general purpose gaming over the next few years, sc2, skyrim, bf3 etc. I'm in Australia so I may not have access to the same hardware for the same prices so keep that in mind. Also although I don't plan to overclock now, I would like to have the possibility to do so in a few months when I know what I am doing.

Picture

CPU - i5 2500k
Mobo - Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3-B3
Ram - G.Skill 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333
GPU - Saphire Radeon HD 6950 2 gb
PSU - Cooler Master Extreme Power 650W
Case - Gigabyte Luxo M1000 Black Mid Tower Case
DVD - Samsung SH-222AB/BEBS Internal 22x DVD Burner
HDD - Will be re-using current
Monitor - Acer V223HQVBD 21.5"
Wireless Adapter - TP-Link TL-WN422G 54M USB

It totals out to about $1030 with shipping.

I'm pretty happy with cpu, gpu, ram and motherboard. Not sure about the PSU, case, DVD, Monitor or the wireless (though I've heard good things).

Would really appreciate some feedback on how this build looks.

Yeah sorry, I misread the build log rules, thought I couldn't post questions their but they only say you can't ask about specific components.

Grab some 1600MHz CL9 RAM, it will be faster, RAM is cheap now a days eitherway. And for that wireless adapter, it sucks for gaming. It is ok for web browsing which doesn't need a constant connection. Too many things cause interference and when things interfere, it gets really laggy. I used to have one, I had to go out and buy a linksys adapter from bestbuy. I would recommend looking into powerline networking if you are gaming, it tends to be more reliable than wireless.

Where are you ordering from?

I'm ordering from here I can find a couple of parts for around $5-10 off at other retailers but in the end because of shipping costs and convenience I'm pretty much going to get everything through them. Yeah I'm kind of screwed on the whole networking thing its either going to be expensive or laggy, I've looked into powerline networking but I haven't heard great things and it seems to be really hit or miss depending on the other things using the power line etc. and I don't know how to test how good it will be in my house before investing a bit of money.

you might be getting a bit of packet loss while playing games on the wlan adapter,
everthing seems fine except the 1333mhz ram (as the guy above said), there's nothing wrong with it but the price gap is insignificant so you might as well buy the higher end one, if you can , fish some $ out of your pocket.
The psu is fine, but imo id go with something i feel more comfortable with, eg stuff made by seasonic or corsair (when i mean stuff made by seasonic they would just be rebranded products eg antec neo eco series are manufactuered by seasonic but they're just rebranded into antec)

Yeah I did a bit more looking for a PSU because reviews for that one weren't amazing, I was thinking of swapping it out for a Corsair Builder Series 600W, I can swap out the ram and keep it under $900 (without monitor) so I might do that.
