Mayhem Red Dye turning Purple

Hello Mayhem,

I just recently bought the Mayhem Red Dye from you. I am only running distilled water and a silver coil. I noticed that my water is slowing turning from deep red to now fully purple. Any ways to prevent this? Thanks.

normally trace amount of chemicals left over in rads can cause this to happen. Just flush you system out and we normally recommend a biocide Such as ours or PT nuke.

We have a new biocide coming out soon which we have tested expensively with all our dyes that combats the issue with many biocides out there at the moment.

All so under testing if in the UK we have found that some deionized water you can buy is just as bad as tap water. If you what to test this you self just get a PPM meter and check the water you self. You can all so nip out to you local Aquarium dealer and pick up test strips for penny's that will show what the PPM value and PH vale of your liquid is.

Our red dye is fine between the values of PH 5.5 to 9.

If you would like us to test a sample of you liquid to see if we can see any problems just give me a shout over PM and i will look into the liquid for you free of charge. You will have to pay P&P to us though and we would need at least 50mls of the liquid.

Thanks for the reply Mayhem! I already washed my rad quite a few times, I guess I will try to wash it some more and see if it helps. If it's still turns purple then I may send you a sample.

I have the same problem, but for my dye I mixed red and 2-3 drops of blue to make it look blood red. So I think in my case is the red particles are building up some where in my loop, leaving more blue ones suspended in the water to give off that purple color.

Ok maybe that's not the case... I flushed and refilled my loop (also changed tubing and clean the rad, blocks etc separately), and added 4 drops of red dye into the loop (no blue dye this time). But 5 days later I noticed that my loop turned purple again. Any solutions to this?
