Looking real good, but these dual 6950's should last me a while...
After reading this article I am going to hold out for a 7970 I been saving up for a 6970 so I could play BF3 and replace this aging 4850. I'll just get a 7970 and BF3 in January and i'm set, it's worth the extra 100 bucks then paying $350 for a 6970 when a 7970 has a stock core at 1GHz!! thumb.gif

Well. I think I found what will be replacing my 8800gts. I think I'll look at the 7950 though. The only demanding games I really have (atm) is GTA IV and Mafia II.

I always see lots of people making posts like this, but come the new generation of cards, most switch quickly anyway.

The amount of people with SLI GTX200's and Xfire 5800's on this forum is incredibly small now.
How many GTX295, 5970, and 4870X2 users do you still see? Practically nil.

I'd imagine around $500 for reference models, $550 for something like a DCuIII. The dollar's pretty strong at the moment so I would be very surprised to see outrageous pricing.

Idk I personally kept my 2 8800gt superclocked in SLI until the gtx 570 came out......

Seems pointless to buy something the day it comes out, everything always has problems in the beginning.

I think the NDA lifts on monday, if i am not mistaken.

Anyway the price is good, remember its a new arch and all, but what really drives the price of a card is bus and RAM. 3g ram for 450$ is great.

Performance wise, i dont think we will see 2x performance, its not happening anymore since games are getting less and less support, not utelizing the gpus. Also the shader count int twise, so i think +- 30% is my guess. Surely its not earthshattering, but its just enough to boost performance of all games across highest res to be playable. We might have the 2560x1600 killer cards this gen (i do hope so).

1Ghz at stock is nice, i guess 1ghz doesnt matter anymore, will it be 1.2GHZ ZOMG the new 1ghz?

All i know is this, cant wait for non-reference boards to battle it out, and see what ocs we can get.
