Ganged and Unganged. Different size RAM

Question, I recently just filled out all 4 slots on my mobo. I have 2x2G in slots 0 and 2. Then I have 2x4G in the remainder slots (1 and 3)

Should I be utilizing Ganged or Unganged for maximum performance? And does it matter which slots the ram is in?

The 2x2G sticks are DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 and the 2x4G are DDR3-1600 PC3-12800.

Ganged if your separate channel quantities are unbalanced.
I would stick the 4GB in 0 and 1, 2 GB in 2 and 3, for 6 GB per channel, no interleaving required.

I dont understand how that will make 6g per channel

0 1 2 3
4 4 2 2

That is how you're saying to set it up, correct? I thought the linking was 0 2 and 1 3.

Mixing of DDR3 RAM is never recommended as it rarely works without issues.
