im not saying anything about BB i used to work there myself... but isnt 700w (Corsair GS700) a little low to OC what im running? (see "X79 Desktop (2011)" in my sig)... i just feel that the 1200w would at least get my system to post when i get the return back... the GPU is very power hungry as is

A GOOD 650w would power your rig fine. The Corsair GS is fine that you have.

well what do you think the issue might be then?.. like i stated earlier if i try to OC my CPU or my RAM to any extent my system wont even give me post beeps... turns on and off a number of times then finnally comes back and tells me "overclock failed, your system is unstable... hit f1 to change settings", so i go back into default... but i know i got the gear to bump it up at least a little, there lies my confusion...

issue resolved... well mostly... i updated my BIOS from 602 to 804, then tried to use the XMP profile again... which did not work. then i used the AI Suite II auto tuner which bumped up my CPU to almost 4.8Ghz and ram to 1922Mhz... then i went in and tried to clock the ram to 24xx (was higher than 2400) then i bumped it down one option to what i have now... see below for details

glad you decided to keep the memory you have some very nice sticks.

they will bench 2500+ with a good IMC if your chip is up to it.

not sure what IMC means rolleyes.gif but if can really hit that freq, that would be awesome

voltages look high still.. if your stable, you should really focus on lowering vcore and vdimm..

1.4vcore and 1.6vdimm would be where i would want to try running...

As well.. your ram timings are pretty crazy.. but you can dial those down, once you finally settle on a speed.

IMC = integrated memory controller, basically the part on the cpu that dictates what speeds your memory is able to run.
