You know I hate you right!!!! tongue.gif

After four chips I'm still stuck with one that can't even boot to 54x multi frown.gif Im really starting to miss my golden 57x multi

What happened to it? D:

If you or anyone else want 5.0 ~ 1.35V chip go look for C batch, they perform all near the same, great for 24/7 but crap with max multi...

Friend's one with Noctua

When my mobo gets back from being RMA'd I'll probably try for the big 5.0 again.

Currently playing around with my old Core 2 Duo E7200. Had it up to 4.1GHz, but it was running a bit hot. Dropped it down to 3.9 now and temps are perfectly manageable.

Had my 2500k up to... 4.7 I believe. Maxed out around 70C with my Cooler Master V6 (essentially the GT as I have dual fans on it now). Nice cooler, but I really want to pick up one of those XSPC kits!

ius been done but must have been a chip from a good batch. To reach 5.0+GHz with an I5 2500K you could do it on any chip with a high end air cooler such as a Noctua NH-D14 with push and pull fan config. The best way would be on water as you just dont know how good your chip is.. smile.gif

To the OP, I've managed to tweak my 4.7 GHz chip (1.344V at load) for maximum air performance. (I was using Intel Burn Tests GFlops as an indicator of maximum computational efficiency, since it will throttle itself due to current/power limitations at the high end.

We nearly identical values for system performance but your temperatures are lower than mine. I really should consider modifying or upgrading my case and adding a second CPU fan.

Have you tried optimizing your 4.7 GHz OC for the highest performance at that frequency?

Whats wrong with a 21c ambient? I can open a window and get it down to 17C in my bedroom...lol Point being, have lots of case fans and air flow to quickly get cold air in, and then just as quickly, get the old hit air out the top... Worked well for me, usually around a 21-22C Inside case temp.... Just a 1-2C increase from 21C on my rig upp's my core temps a good 3-4C....so its extrapolated when the case temp goes up just a bit...
