Hi guys ive got an intel core2duo E2140 cpu 1.6Ghz and GA-G31M-S2L motherboard can i overclock my cpu to 2.0Ghz with stock fun and no chance of burning my cpu!!!rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

G31/G41 chipsets do not OC that well, as they are not meant to OC. But you could get to at least 2 GHz with stock fan. I bet you don't even need to raise stock volts for 400 MHz, or maybe just a small bump.

That's not to say you cannot get an amazing OC off your CPU with a good cooler biggrin.gif

man id just replace that chip lots of folks selling core2's off these days, snag an E6xxx conroe, e7xxx or E8xxx

Yeah, if you are patient you can get a used C2D for cheap on eBay. It would be a good idea to upgrade your cooling if you are overclocking. You can get something like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 for pretty cheap on Newegg. As for not frying your cpu... there is always a risk! Proceed at your own risk... but if you educate yourself and your OC is only mild to moderate the chances of seriously shortening the life of your components is much less.
