This setup is weird....at first it was fine @ 5GHz + DDR3-2400. And then 2 days later I had to keep increasing the vCore and VCCP. And then it wouldn't boot at the same speeds anymore no matter how much voltage I add. From there on, the max OC I could get out of this CPU began to decrease. Now it won't boot at anywhere above 4.5GHz....I've tested the RAM and each module is fine....still trying to figure out what's wrong....

Yea I agree 5GHz makes no difference from 4.6GHz....other than the pointless bragging rights...= =

I think my CPU is degrading slowly....madsmiley.png

Finally this i7-3960X would not POST at anything above the stock speed...mad.gif

I had to get rid of it, no point having this if it won't even overclock. Now I got an i7-3770K instead.

That's the GeIL EVO Cyclone RAM Cooler with real time LED projection system info display. Shows vCore & temp. tongue.gif

Btw, how is the HD 7970? Performance/Temp? I see some mixed reviews, some people are say it's too heavy and have began bending. Some say it runs very hot. I got the 7870 instead which seems solid so far and runs quite cool.

Which is why I run my $1000 processor no higher then 4.7ghz... tongue.gif

That's a lot of money to burn up for a couple hundred mhz.
