Either i have the worsr i7 920 c0 ever or something is wrong.

My chip doesnt want to oc for anything. 3.6 or 2.8 forget 4ghz.

Not sure if these temps are correct on stock clocks on a cpu burn test 5 runs.

CORE 0 59C

CORE 1 56C

CORE 2 54C

CORE 3 54C

My cooler is a corsair H70. I have it in a push pull config in a antec 902 gaming cash all fans max.

I use IC dimaond TIM also.

I followed the guide on these forums. Temps just hit 80s in about 10 seconds on 3.8. Alot of the time pc just crashes even on 3.6

Is it time to get a D0?

the coooler is def mounted incorrectly... try to remount it even the stock cooler should be able to do better then that. Also note that the heat will prevent you from over clocking so seating it properly is a crucial point
post #3 of 25
i have the same case as you and a lesser cooler (h50) and i hit 80c on my hottest core max on prime. i also live in florida -__-
i really think ur h70 is seated incorrectly or tim may be applied poorly. what are your ambients like?
also what are your overclock settings?
whats your vcore most importantly?

I can't believe I still have my CPU-Z validation of my old i7 920 CO.
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1125654

Like others have said, you probably need to reseat your cooler. Those temps are way too high for even stock clocks. I was using a TRUE 120 BLack with 2 Gentle Typhoons AP-15s and my max temps were 75c at 4.0ghz @ 1.4v
The max I was able to push on my CO was 4.3ghz, but I forgot the voltage and I didn't validate it. frown.gif

BTW those temps were not idle.

My idle temps are all in the 30s.

Pea size is WAY too big. Try slightly-larger-than-BB size.

core 1 80c
core 2 74c
core 3 75c

Voltages

ioh 1.2
