Just Airing Some Frustration

Thread Starter
1. The moment I decide to start binning 2600Ks is the moment that Amazon decides to raise the 2600K's price from 299.99 to 314.99.

2. In light of (1), I decided I'll go into debt and get a 3930K instead of binning. Now, I cannot find any 3930Ks in stock!

Maybe this is a sign I should wait for IB. Sigh. I just hate to see all this untapped potential in my hoard of video cards; perhaps I should just sell them all and wait for the next generation.

Am tired of stagnating on the bot. frown.gif

Any team member feel like that sometimes? Does it pass?

Oh, and if whining is unbecoming of a bencher, feel free to move this to the dark recesses of the forum.

i feel ya man...

torn with what to bench or what not to bench... all based on the outcome of finding a so so decent 2600k or.... awaiting the arrival of Ivy.
stock pile some decent boint getter cards in the mean time. just in case something decent falls into your lap.

In the mean time, go grab a decent 775 board and have some fun with some older stuff with 2D.. it always helps to pass the time while awaiting something better...

ill help

get pot

put 980x into x58 oc board

by cheap universal waterblock

hook up to slush bucket or put radiator out the window if its cold enough

BENCH

Gotta look at it this way your never gunna have the best hardware on the bot. So you just gotta learn to push the hardware you have as far as you can. After you do that you gotta freeze it and push it again. No point in banging your head against the wall trying to get thousands of dollars of hardware that will be non competitive in a years time. Trust me I have chased this dragon.

I know how ya feel its difficult to keep the drive going but i find it never goes away:thumbsups: I am about to have a big clear out try and get something sorted. I must admit that most new products need vast amounts of money as binning is the only way;)

get GPU's.. solder/bench/repeat... so long as you have 5.2ghz SB or higher.. modding can make up for CPu points in lots of benches. With all of the SB benchers on the bot.. and the relative ease of benching +5ghz SB, so many people have moved up the ranks... and they are relative noobs.. benching stock GPU clocks etc or what-have you.

Theres lots of experience/boints/fun in modding GPU's to bench.. and they dont have to cost +$500 either rolleyes.gif

i sort of know what you mean (with stagnating on hwbot) redface.gif
albeit i'm in a bit different situation (software problems)

but binning is definitely frustrating.. lately i've been so damn lazy with applying and reapplying the eraser, mounting and unmounting SS.. if chip was good, then testing it on DICE to see if it scales any (so far none have, just get cold boot or it hanging/freezing)

It takes so much freaking time! i wish i could just pay someone to do it for me frown.gif (i just buy the chips and send it to them to bin smile.gif)
Looking at my newegg history page and paper receipts, i've only gone through 38 processors as of this moment... sadsmiley.gif (so if there is any trend i will need to go through about 262 more processors to find what i am looking for) I am going to see if i can ask for my graduation gift early ($10,000 should do it lol)

These are my thoughts exactly!

I purchased 18 2500K-2600K chips to get the two 53 Multiplier cpu's that I use in my daily rigs and one 55x 2500k that I benched hard and finally sold it for $350. I will not pay an outlandish fee for a pre-binned SB, just not smart in my book.

I am totally bored with Sandy!

Now benching 775 socket cpu's that I have been stock piling. These are a lot more fun to begin with. After 775, I am going AM3!

It does take a lot of time in preparation to bench. If it becomes stressful, step away for a couple of weeks and come back strong

Don't let the desire for points drive you crazy! Just take your time and have fun benching! thumb.gif

Veblen, older cheap stuff can be a lot of fun too, in times of low funds I go through craigslist for cheap gpus that do well for boints & get to voltmodding.

Badatgames, if you get the board covered with LET or dragon skin finishing the insulation is a breeze,I generally use just enough eraser to seal the cpu into the socket to prevent any water getting into the pins, from the time I put a cpu in it takes about 2 minutes or so for the eraser & ready for the armaflex & the pot.
