Maxing those on a 1080p monitor @120hz is quite a task even for crossfire 6970s. 120hz monitors increased the spectrum of performance requirements for hardware by 200%. Those that say 120hz vs 60hz is not noticeable, have not experienced it on a decent 120hz monitor. I always go back to BF3, but I was not able to keep my minimum fps above 60fps @ Ultra/4xMSAA in BF3 without 3 6970s in Tri-Fire. Dual 6970s only kept me at around 40fps minimum. Which is OK for a 60hz display, but not ideal at all for the enthusiast. It's all about what realm you fall into ; Enthusiast or casual.

To clarify my previous post, in SLI I was running full ULTRA with 4xMSAA and was always well above 70fps. With only one card and the same settings I would have drops to around 45-50ish on Caspian at the "E" base when looking directly into the fire and smoke at the gas station..That doesnt happen when using 2xMSAA(All ULTRA,Post-High) and only one nicely overclocked 580. thumb.gif Can't wait for the HD 7xxx series to release. If it's not a HUGE leap I plan on skipping it and waiting for the GTX 680 (late 2012 or early 2013)...

The statement about 120FPS needing more power is true, but about being needed for the hardcore/enthusiast gamer?
Nahh, but thats just my .02. 1920 X 1080 ain't dick anymore for me. Still looks nice with all the features maxed, but NOTHING like 2560 X 1600 Not even close.
If you can LOCK games at 60FPS, they won't look and 'feel' whole lot different on a 120hz monitor, I have both. A good example is something like Half Life 2.

It looks INCREDIBLY better at 2650 X 1600, but isn't any smoother on my 120hz Acer because its so easy to run smoothly.
I do agree a 120hz is smoother its an undeniable fact, but how much smoother is the question and 1080P gaming is a thing of the past for me personally.

They just need to make a 120hz 30" 2560 X 1600 I guess!
