I am actually receiving a 128 Plextor M5 Pro this Tuesday. biggrin.gif
Look up reviews of each and see what you like best. I got the M5 Pro because I like Plextor and my friend Tom above just bought my M3. smile.gif

thanks for the links.

oO. The Plextor scores better than the Samsung even though the Samsung beats it? makes no sense.

You need to run multiple tests on the same PC with the only factor changing being the SSDs to appropriately compare them. Over all tests they will be similar.

I'd just get the Sammy if you want the best, tho the price is high for a 128GB drive...but it is the best out. Also, there is the OCZ Vector which competes with the Sammy. It and the sammy are the best performing drives out.

I wouldn't mind a vector, looks pretty good. but it's not available here. frown.gif

guess I'll juggle these two drives then.

I have a weird issue...

I updated to Intel Rapid Storage 11.7.0.1013 and for kicks I ran AS-SSD and got a score of 885...a few days later I ran it again and got 875....I just ran it now after leaving my PC idle for hours...and got a score of 865....what the heck is happening....my AS-SSD score has always been 885-900....I am not sure if the update is bugged for me or something..

Is there anything I should check to be sure all is fine? such as a SSD health program? I'm a little surprised to see the AS-SSD score declining so fast.

Not enough of a fluctuation to show concern. When the score is cut by more than 100 or so, then you should be worried. It all depends on what state your CPU is in when the test is ran. If the cpu is clocked down when you run the test, you'll get a lower score than if your CPU is clocked up and doing something else. That's why you should always run 1 thread of Prime95 when running AS SSD. But seriously, you're probably running AS SSD way too much for the greater good of the drive. thumb.gif

Hello!

This will be a bit tricky for me to write as I'm not so good at English.

I bought a 128 GB Sandisk SSD on Dec, 27th for my laptop (acer V3 771G). Everything went fine until yesterday when it crashed. The drive was for windows. Besides that I had Warcraft 3 and the sims on it. After I installed Sims 3 on it I wanted to play W3 on garena. At the loading screen I received a BSOD (unfortunately I didn't write the error code down). On the first restart I received the error that there is no boot drive found (the second HDD is just for files). Another restart and this time it found it but I got stuck on the windows loading screen. Then I said, wth I'll install my windows again. Of course it didn't work, the drive got stuck on formatting. So, I decided to take the drive out and to put it in an enclosure (USB 2.0) for further inspections. I tried on another laptop to format it, an error occurred. I then tried to delete the volume, another error (everything in partition management). Then I tried the same things in EASUES, just to get the message "there are some errors occurred while writing partition chains on disk". Windows wouldn't actually even boot until I disconnected the SSD. As a last resort I created a Live CD with gparted, booted it and from there I deleted the volume, and tried to create a new one. Another error occurred on creation. BUT! In windows under disk management I could see it as a RAW partition, so i labeled it, and it worked (or so i thought). Every time I want to copy smth on it it will get stuck on 99%.

Meanwhile I tried Hiren's Boot CD, cmd commands, linux commands, victoria43 etc.

Here are 2 screens from HDD Scan and HDTune:

http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/1341/smarttp.jpg
http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/531/62142370.jpg

I'm really ****** off cause the bloody thing is new (as far as the service goes, well I bought it from 1400 km afar).

Could running a hdparm secure erase command bring something? I'm afraid it's dead for good...

I was thinking about replacing it with a Samsung 840, is it a good idea?

Sorry for the long post!
