So this isnt a ssd question but it has to do with my SSDs smile.gif

My motherboard the Asrock p67 extreme4 gen 3 supports 6 sata ports
2x 6gb/s intel driver
2x 3gb/s marvel driver
4x 3gb/s intel driver i believe

How do my raid options look? 2 2 and 4 at max? or can i switch them on all different drivers would that work? is it possible to do 8 ssds raid 0? just thinking out loud...

any advice or tips on this subject would be great thanks...

link to motherboard http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/P67%20Extreme4%20Gen3/?cat=Specifications

after reading the specs i shall post them here to make things easier!

2 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s connectors, support RAID (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID 5 and Intel® Rapid Storage), NCQ, AHCI and "Hot Plug" functions

2 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s connectors by Marvell SE9120, support NCQ, AHCI and "Hot Plug" functions (SATA3_M2 connector is shared with eSATA3 port)

4 x SATA2 3.0 Gb/s connectors, support RAID (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID 5 and Intel® Rapid Storage), NCQ, AHCI and Hot Plug functions

You can put 6 drives in Raid. That will be drives that are connect to Intel controller ports sata3 and sata2.Marvell controller ports cant be include in Intel Raid.

ok thanks... any idea if the speed on the 6gb/s ports would be slowed to 3gb/s in order to maintain speeds or syncing? or whatever the proper wording is and with that i am done with questions now just to decide which damn drives to buy haha

Google "3 x crucial m4"
M4 in Raid 0 on sata3 give 650 point each in as-ssd,next m4 that you put in that same Raid but on sata2 port give only max 300 points in as-ssd.
At least,its not profitable.

I think I understand the only reason it would make sense is to just use 3-4 older ssds you had laying around like what I have now.

2 intel g2s RAID 0

AS SSD 444 read and 44 write lol
4k = 18.1 read and 29 write

thanks for help....

No,dont do that. Those SSD will even more cripple speed of new generation SSDs.If you have money to spend, the best solution is to buy 2 x Samsung 840 Pro 256gb and put them in Raid 0.
1000 Read
1000 Write
What more do you need.

I agree and I did not mean RAID 0 with 2 old intels and 2 new 840s.... that would be silly smile.gif

2x840pro 256 RAID 0 would be awesome... and might be my choice running out of time on this deal thanks

Hey man hope you can help me out, i'm stumped whether to get the new Corsair GS F240 or a Crucial M4 256. The prices are almost the same with the corsair being higher priced with smaller capacity. Will be using it for OS, Games (mostly from Steam) and a few simple apps like basic photo editing software and basic video converting/editing software.

Games I'm currently running are:
- COD: MW3
- COD: BO2
- Batman AA and AC
- Civ V + Expansion
- Anno 2070 + Expansion + DLCs
- Stronghold 3 Gold
- Darksiders 1 & 2
- DOTA 2

Will be purchasing some more games soon if budget permits and if on sale only lol

Will 180gb be enough though? since I'm also considering the Corsair Force GS F180 coz it's a cheaper by a a thousand and a half bucks (PHP) thanks!
