You really must follow the suggestions on this forum when purchasing a SSD. I got an OCZ agility 3 and it is just slow, and keeps causing BSOD. Trying to get a refund and purchase a M4.

That may or may not be based upon what i use "the most" according to an algorithm in a chip. Thanks again for all your hard work on this forum. I appreciate it!

Bump...going to put a AS SSD comparison part up soon b/w the most popular SSDs to show how bad the low end SandForce ones really are with compressed data.

I just purchased an Agility 3 120GB from MC for $129 with rebate.. I knew it was a SandForce drive and definitely not the fastest by a long shot. But, it's my first SSD and the price point was good.. No problems here.. No BSOD's or "just slow" speeds, and my EVGA mobo only has SATA2 ports. So I'm capped at arounds 250MB a second.. Ah, did you use the latest Chipset drivers for you mobo? Is the drive on 2.15 firmware?

By the way Sean.. You SSD optimization guide was truly helpful.. thumb.gif

Thanks bud. smile.gif

Yea, you shouldn't get any issues. And if you were to get an M4 instead I bet you wouldn't notice that much of an improvement in speeds unless you do a lot of media editing like I do. Good luck with your system. thumb.gif

in your recommended section you have an error that i saw, nothing major but its a bit confusing
Quote:
Large boot drive: (~256GB+) - Look at the Crucial M4, Samsung 830, Plextor M3 Series, or Corsair Performance Pro.
Performance wise I see it as Corsair Performance Pro/Plextor M3 Series> Samsung 830 > Crucial M4.
Also, consider the Plextor M3 Series and Intel 510.

You say performance wise Corsair/M3 Series > Samsung and then later say also consider the Plextor M3 Series. Just thought you might want to know biggrin.gif Cheers!

hey sean, what is your thoughts on this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227740

a friend of mine is selling his rig and i have first dibs on parts. so i was thinking about getting that. but the thing is, i dont have a x4 slot. i know pci-e slots are backwards compatable, so will i be able to put that in a x8 slot that dont share bandwith with my x16 slot or do i have to have an x4 slot?

How much can you get it for? You can easily get two normal drives and put them in raid 0to be faster
post #240 of 2376
he wants $400 for it.

i tried raid 0 on this board once before and the results sucked. the amd raid drivers are horrible. i would need a raid card if i wanted proper performance out of my SSDs. also, i got rid of my 60gb SSDs and got a 180gb instead. if i were to get another 180gb ssd and the raid card, i would be spending more than what he wants for the ocz card. thats why i asked what you thought about it.
