Sean's SSD Buyers Guide & Information Thread - Page 37

Hi
Do you think a 64GB Crucial M4 will be big enough for Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, Office 2010 and the Adobe Master Collection CS5.5 (Photoshop, dreamweaver etc) and will i see i boost in performance from having these programs installed on a SSD?

EDIT - For anyone with the same question please see this post - http://www.overclock.net/t/1145150/crucial-ssd-club/680_40#post_16563236

I replied in the Crucial thread, but I wrote something and edited it and it is not showing up...:/

But yes you will have enough room. I actually have almost all that software and a lot more other stuff and I have 30GB free on my 64GB M4. I only have ~ half of the CS5 suite installed.

You should have ~20GB left over with all of CS5.5 and all.

Up to you if you want more room to expand upon.

Sean, just ordered two intel 520 240gb's. Just hope that sandforce isn't as big a let down as everyone is lead to believe.

As stated you will have plenty of space for that as I run similar software and size. They do run much better on an SSD with general responsiveness.

I've just installed my new M4 64GB. Quite responsive so far even before doing Seans guide, it's great to see a 7.9 WEI score for my primary hard drive.

Below is a picture of my hard drive and SSD in the disk management screen.

For some reason windows put the 100mb system partition on my Hard drive during setup. Will this have a effect on performance?

Looking great. No that is simply system files meant for recovery if Windows ever has an issue and you need to repair. There will be no performance degradation. smile.gif

I have the 120GB 520 Series and it's working like a dream so far.. This is my first SSD and I am really impressed so far. I'll be adding more in the future, no doubt. thumb.gif
