Cool. Here is the V4 club: www.overclock.net/t/1242088/official-vertex-4-owners-club

You can see how others like their V4's and see benches and better support for your drive there.

Anybody have any experiences with the Samsung 830, thinking of getting a 256gb one as I am currently running my OS off of a 250gb 5400rpm drive and it could not be slower...

Very speedy drive, stable controller. Can't go wrong with it. I use one on my HTPC/virtualization rig and there's no time for the Windows logo to even finish rendering before I'm already on the desktop. Haven't really timed boot times but I think it's well below 20 seconds.

I am about to pull the trigger on a Samsung 830 for my sig rig after reading reviews, I am fed up with my old and loud SATA HDD as my main OS drive. I need to step into the world of ssd as I keep hearing so many positives about upgrading to one.

Would this make my system quieter once the ssd is being used for the OS? Am I correct in thinking that once my old hdd is only used as a storage drive, it would only make noise when it is being accessed for data?

When it is not being accessed it will be quieter or silent. When being accessed it may sound the same, or slightly quieter as it won't be multitasking as much.

That's good to hear then. I've not upgraded any storage for years, I am still using a damn SATA 1 hdd, so I am sure I should see a decent amount of overall system improvement! Just about to purchase it now, 128GB Samsung 830 - £79.98 - free delivery. Cant be too bad a deal

Thanks for the fast reply dude! thumb.gif
