With how much hardware I buy from Asus, I should ask them to sponsor us at OCN. I have bought over 200 of their motherboards over the past 5 years. I've spent over $60k through my name at Microcenter. I almost should ask Microcenter to sponsor me too for how much money I bring them.
I don't think it would be that hard to get some of these companies to play apart. Especially if it's putting their hardware up against EVGA's.
It's not hard at all. Spending as much as you have gives you the leverage so to speak.
I remember when I was the IT manager for a small school in Kansas City I would get freebies all the time from my venders. Football tickets, hockey tickets, invites to important get togethers etc...
At the same time you don't want to abuse it and you want to coordinate it. it's one thing for say someone to go ask for a freebie and then offer it as a prize as we see many do anyway. That can work.
But it's uncoordinated. By working with the leadership here, setting up a coordinator to manage the requests, building relationships it will work.
Based on what I have read already we have people on here who work in very important positions in some of these same or similar companies.
We also have people like Hambone07si who have relationships already in there own right and working through them as they are willing and able can lead to long term results as well.
It's worth exploring I think.
