How can we catch [H]ardOCP and EVGA? - Page 25

I could probably help, but would it be wise risking my sigrig and possibly damaging components? I know I'm probably overreacting I just would rather a 1k piece of machinery not get hurt lol.

Looks like you only have 5 on this machine (may have more since you mentioned a work PC as well) ... in the drop down tab where you see All Clients, select SMP. That will show you how many SMP WUs you have completed. I guess the other thing I neglected to tell you is that you need a 90% + completion rate. But, you look ok since your failures were on GPU WUs.

Another great piece of software for tracking clients on multiple PCs as long as you can network them is HFM.net ... allows you to pull up tracking information no matter where you are. See my sig below.

EDIT: On your WU failures, I think those are GPU WUs and there should be a log file ... On the main Tracker screen, Client Tab, select GPU 1 or GPU 2 or GPU 3 (depending on how many GPU clients you are folding on), then select View Files. There should be a folder there called something like Failed Work Units with a log file(s) for you to see what happened.

Also, under the Setup tab on the main Tracker screen, select Configure and make sure you check Verbosity and it's also good to check Save Completed WU logs ... I've had a WU not given credit by Stanford and this is the only way to figure out which WU was not counted and get credit issued.

Nope, there is nothing to worry about. Alright, it does put more strain on it. So, maybe it will die in 8 years in stead of 10? I don't know the figures, but I know that unless you don't plan to upgrade in the next 8 years, you should be just fine. Just make sure you don't put to many voltages through your parts.

If the WU's were GPU units then your gpu probably isn't stable. Just because it's been stable for hours of gaming and benching, doesn't mean it's stable for folding. Same with prime. Folding is the hardest thing to get stable for. Bigadv and hugeadv are much harder on the system than smp too.

Nice Overclock on that Q9650!

I had the same setup until a few days ago when I had to move some parts around. I really love that board and think it will be back doing something once the dust settles ... folding of some kind or another, I'm sure.

It could also be the video driver. FWIW I've had no problems folding with either 266.58 or 285.38 (beta).

Is it possible for a computer to blow up while folding.

Yes, if you try very hard.

Seriously, I dont know how you could manage that without putting 2v+ into your GPU for hours.

Some unlucky people have had gpu's die early I'm not going to lie, but it's rare honestly and it may have happened regardless of folding. As long as you're keeping temps and volts reasonable, it won't kill anything.

oh tis true, I remember hambone said he was on beta drivers. 266.58 is the standard happy folding one, 285 is the more recent one that seems to be happy. Also don't forget to disable SLI for maximum points.
