There is little incentive to fold for OCN. I do because I like the community, however that won't sway most folks to fold.

My $.02:
More titles handed out, badges, you know epeen stuff.
Free Overclocked accounts when users reach X amount of points. Perhaps that number would be 5 million? 10 million?
Free shirt or lanyard, or something tangible at 10 million points...or some high number of points.

But yes, incentives(like free stuff) always motivate people biggrin.gif

With respect, we do that now for FaTs, FFW and CCs, just to name a few events. There is a lot of epeen stuff on this site, compared to others.

Most of the prizes are donated by fellow folders as well as admin et al. Your right, the community aspect of this site is its strongest attraction. I do love it here.

I do not know about non NIVIDIA cards but simple -smp (off the cpu) folding, with no overclock (I see stock cooling) out to get you 16K or so. Juice that cpu up and fold -bigadv (for a while anyway, and if you pull any -bigadv WU's) should send that ppd up over 20K ppd (points per day). I remember running 2684's at 3.8GHz and getting 65K or so for 3+ days work.

I might give folding a try when I finish my new build (GTX 580 3GB, i5-2500k hoping to oc around4.5GHz), under OCN as a thanks for the help I've been given (and will be given before finishing, I am sure) My only concern is seeing things like $1000 electric bill. If it really eats up that much power (or increases my current electric bill by much at all, currently pay about $60 a month on average) I can't really afford to run it.

I think changes need to be more than events. I think we need to change our teams folding style. We should push, have discussion and as a team get more into heavy duty hardware. An sr-2 rig can be had second hand for not much more than sli 580s. However, people don't think about that because no one discusses them. Our entire team attitude towards hardware needs to change in my opinion.

Where are you, some local people might be able to give you a good estimate on power costs. Your 2500k is going to be very power efficient though. You can always start off slow and ramp up once you see what the bills are. You don't have to fold 24/7 or nothing at all, you can be in the middle smile.gif
