Question about wifi antennas.

I was wondering if this would work with 5ghz. I've had a little look around but couldn't find any information.

Wi-Fi also can fall in the 5Ghz range. thumb.gif

I was always told the 5GHz antennas were physically different than the 2.4GHz versions (although they may have the same connector type and look similar on the outside). I have never tried it though.. If it works it probably won't work quite as well as a "5GHz antenna" I would guess. I would just buy the correct one in the first place.

Generally you'll be fine to use that antenna with 5Ghz. Antenna's are based on a lot of math. But the basic idea is to use an antenna that is in someway a portion of the actual frequency's wavelength or λ. A lot of antenna's will get double duty usage.

Seeing how 2.4Ghz is nearly half of 5Ghz, you should be just fine.
