X4 960T based build ?

So due to getting increasingly frustrated with my Intel X79 dream build due to availability issues of the CPU's and some other things. Ive been thinking of taking a totally different approach to my new build .. the how much can i get for how little style of build pretty much. Im finding myself very much lured towards the X4 960T as i read about how well they OC, and the chance of core unlocks.

Want to have no performance issues with the following after overclocking/tweaks at "High" or equivalent settings at 1080p for the following games to give examples of what im aiming for -

Skyrim
Battlefield 3
SW: The Old Republic

GPU wise I was thinking ether ATI 6950 or 560Ti(448 cores possibly ?). As i will be going single GPU I was looking at a 970 based motherboard, unless this would affect OC results and/or performance in a meaningful way. 8GB Ram and a SSD would round things out.

Any thoughts/recommendations or such ?

Seems like a completely normal build to me. No real questions in your post so I really can't add anything else.

So what im saying seems like it would work well for a "how much for how little" style build goes then ?

Sure. If you want post a budget here and where you live (so we know which retailers to use) so we can help select parts for you. What you said sounds pretty good though. I would personally go for an i3 build but that's just me.

Am in the UK and the retailers I like to use would be scan.co.uk and memoryc.com for memory/storage that Scan does not stock.

Think of this build more along the lines of an exercise in how much can I get for how little rather then a budget build as such. The reasons for doing this are kind of hard to explain however..

But as a guide to what I am thinking .. no more then £300 on CPU/Memory/Motherboard/CPU Cooler, and no more then £200 on GPU.

Been doing some searching and the Asrock 970 Extreme4 cropped up as being realy good value for money.. almost to good to be true really. Not available at Scan but I could look else ware if indeed this thing is as good a value as it looks. A concern would be support for the 960T out of the box on this one though..

Biostar TA990FXE is another good value option I have found and Ive had some limited first hand experience with Biostar in terms of build quality and such. Only issue with this board seems to be certain coolers may be very hard to fit due to it using the old style AMD bracket, unless they include a replacement with the cooler so am not sure how much of a pain that would be ?

Been thinking about FM1 based solutions also, but i dont think a FM1 based setup would be much better CPU wise then what I have according to benchmarks (have a C2Duo E6600,4GB Ram, stock clocks/settings)
