I'd say this is all you need. smile.gif
It still has a sandy-bridge processor, you wouldn't need a dedicated for those tasks so it'll run smoothly.
It also has a 320GB hard drive and 4GB of ram which is plenty. biggrin.gif
If it was my money and I needed it for those tasks, this is the laptop i'd get.
Hope that helps. thumb.gif

This^^

sandy bridge should last you a while and the i3 is plenty of power for what you need it for.

and asus makes decent stuff, my brother has a 3 yr old asus (granted AMD build) and its still running like brand new, I have been very pleased with his laptop build by asus.

That's a great finding biggrin.gif, would recommend it too

However, I think you should stay away of Acer, and if possible Dell. These are the 2 I've seen failing more often.

If your mum has problems seeing, then you either grab a hold of this laptop and increase the DPI right off the back or a full HD screen is going to be worse then a 720P 15.6" one.

Also, you should take out +rep in the title, it gives people the wrong incentive for posting. I think it is against ToS too. but I am not certain.
