CPU Help

Thread Starter
I am looking for a new PC so would like to start with the CPU first, my budget is £126 either AMD or Intel,

I am using the new built PC to game and media, and must have good performances

Also the CPU will be overclocked

This is current PC specs,

CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 545
Motherboard - Foxconn A7VMX-K
RAM - ASint Technology PC2-6400
GPU - ATI Radeon HD 5500 Series

Once I've built the new PC, this current PC will be used for surfing the net and media

The CPU will be bought on eBay

If Intel try and get a I5-2500K . Not sure if its posible with your budget. Only K Series Intel can overclock inthe currrent generation of CPUs.

If AMD, 960T Zosma (can possibly unlock to Hex Core) , 980BE or 1090T or 1100T (all of these should be possible with your budget). All of these are unlocked Black Edition.

In terms of gaming performance, all of the above will perform similarly. Heaviy mutithreaded, the 1090T and 1100T will probably be better and in terms of raw performance and overclockability the 2500K is best hands down.

Bulldozer I would just give it a miss, unless its cheap in which case the 8120 I think is the best.

I'll see if I can get i5 2500K, but meanwhile should I go with AMD or Intel?
