here's a little something different for you to think about. I had a sager (got stolen), but I absolutely loved it. This one is 829, they have a cheaper model as well though. I know it is 15 inch, but I figured it's still something to consider, plus it's always fun to have something different from everyone else on campus thumb.gif

doh.gif The highest-quality 13" panel you'll get is either MBP 13, or Sony Vaio SA 1600x900 (maybe a couple Ultrabooks have decent 1600x900 panels, idk). For 14", maybe Alienware M14x 1600x900 although it weighs more than a lot of 15" laptops. Which brings me to... Sony Vaio S 15.5". It weighs 4.4 pounds, less than a MBP 13. 1080p screen.

If you actually want an IPS panel, it's either a tablet or a Lenovo Thinkpad X220 (non-tablet has it as a $50 option).

And if you're curious about 555M in 14", only the M14x has it. The Lenovo Ideapad Y470 has a 550M(best you'll find in a <5 pound 14"), although it don't have an IPS screen.

EDIT: For full disclosure.. the Sony Vaio Z is the only 13" laptop with a 1080p panel. Costs $2000ish though. Then again, it's the only <15" laptop with a 1080p panel, and its made of carbon fiber and whatnot.
