Netbook CPU or RAM (300$ Limit)

Thread Starter
Hi, I want to buy a netbook but I've run into a bit of a dilemma.
I saw one netbook for 280$ with an AMD C-50 Dual Core (1GHZ) but it said it's max RAM can only fit 1 GB
And then there is another netbook for the same price with a single-core N450 (1.66GHZ) but it's maximum RAM was 2GB. Which netbook would be the best to get? Low RAM and powerful CPU or vise versa?

At this point I would hold off. Windows on a N450 is often too slow for most people. The C-50 shouldn't have a 1GB ram limit but it might be the maker using a cheaper mobo to cause that(why I don't know).

Basically right now the netbook market is dying so I wouldn't jump into it if you only use Windows(Linux is a different story). Best bet is to wait for the N2000 series of Atoms to get released (early January at best) or go with the C-50/60s especially in a windows only usage.

If you could spare the cash this is really the best I've seen for a netbook all around:

As for which is best I'd probably go with the C-50 even if you choose a crippled mobo version but I would never pay that much for someone to limit my choices.

I don't think Atom N2000 series will be too impressive. AMD C-50 is a strong choice, within ~20-30% of a dual-core Atom and the graphics are a lot better. And it should handle 4GB of RAM, single stick - I'd post the model like Rookie said, so we could check it. Doesn't seem logical that a C-50 netbook would only take 1GB.

More than likely the C-50 is just using Windows Starter which is why it's limited to 1gig, so if you install another OS like Home Premium or Linux you can use up to 4gigs.

Edit: I mixed up Vista Starter and 7 Starter. Vista starter has a limit of 1gig and 7 Starter has a limit of 2gigs.

Edit #2: Quick search of Newegg revealed only 1 netbook with a C-50, and it takes up to 4gigs just fine but the Details page is misleading as it states it only takes up to 1gig.
