Case Upgrade? (Carbide 400r, CM 690ii?)

Hey guys,

I am looking to update my case from the old NZXT Apollo mid. It's a decent case, but terrible airflow, no expandibility, and horrible wire-management. I'm looking at mid-tower cases that are just below or at the $100 mark. Focuses: airflow (for my twin frozr 6950) and wire-management are my two largest concerns. What do you guys think I should go for?

Corsair Carbide 400R: $79 AR at local Micro Center ($89 sticker price). Lots of cooling options. USB 3 front-panel ports, grommeted wire management.

Coolermaster CM690 ii Advanced: $83.00 at Overstock. Lots of cooling options, hot-swap hdd dock on top of the case, no USB 3 though.

Any other suggestions? (These are just the two that attracted me most...)

Nice. I've actually never seen this case, and it looks great. Plus, $91.15 w/tax & free shipping right now. Pretty spiffy stuff. I guess the only gripe I might have is that I have a whole bunch of 120mm fans, and this one takes mostly 140's. Definitely a minor issue though.

I highly, highly recommend the 400r. Cable management is a cinch, great airflow, plus usb 3.0 front ports!

The case is amazing, trust me. It has everything you're looking for: Airflow (7 fan slots with big fans), Expandability (decent size and room for loads of rads) and cable management (at least an inch behind the mobo tray plus great grommets).

I dont see how the 120mm fans are a problem as every slot (except side panel i think) have 120mm holes. And also I've seen a guy stuff bunch of rads in that case. 360 top, 280 front and 120 bottom IIRC. That's 760 worth of rad inside a mid-tower.

Seems like a perfect case to me.

Oh, and if you get this case and after having fans on front, back and top you still feel like there's not enough airflow, you can stuck a silverstone 180mm Air penetrator (aka The Beast) on the side and the case will go flying biggrin.gif

Ha, good point about the 120mm holes. I just glanced specs and saw 140, 140, 140 optionals. doh.gif
Ya I don't think I'll be throwing any rads in there anytime soon, but it's an awesome thing to know that I can if I want too.
Lol @ #Flying.

Ya it looks like a pretty solid case...got a chance to check it out at MC. I'm kind of throwing out the cm 690 ii after considering the 400r and the Midi...it just seems one year too old now. tongue.gif
