I donno about that, the reference cooler on my 580 kept it under 75C full load with 1.1v through the core, until I put it under water.....

How do these scores look?

560 448 MSI PE @ 975/1950 Max settings

362

same @ default oveclock.net standards smile.gif

368

Do i want to keep this? How much gain would i get from a MSI lightning 1.5 Gb for instance? how about a 7950?

its hard to compare since the settings between the runs are different

and a 448 at 975 core is sweet...thats surely a tad faster than a stock 580 at 772mhz

thanks for the reply!

I'm just trying to figure out if i would see any gain in about the only game that i do play. BF3 @ 1920 x1080. I'm pretty sure that if i add another 22 incher of the same resolution this wouldn't suffice. A 7950 would probably trump it. I'm just trying to figure out if this card @ 239.99 after rebate was a better deal that if say i'll return it and get tomorrow a 479.99 7950 from Sapphire.

Bang for the buck. That's what i'm all about.! smile.gif

Thanks in advance for all the input !

The stock msi bios worked on my card, the voltage setting's even went up to 1.150 dont know why? I'm pretty sure i read that msi card only goes up to 1.1, maybe MSI are lying and thats why you guys with MSI cards are getting much better overclocks. biggrin.gif The only problem with the bios is the fan settings were off the lowest was 40%, on the asus card the stock is 20%. Unfortunatly i could not see any gains at the same voltages. I did at 1.118 volt run though @915 mhz 7024 3dmark 11 points. http://3dmark.com/3dm11/2760020

I would really love to test this card with a fullface watercooled block it almost feels like its something besides the gpu that needs cooling but hard to know what when there are no sensors besides the gpu unit.

UPDATE!!!

Ok once again I tested this and it is starting to make sense to me. It really does seem the MSI card(maybe EVGA too) is delivering 0.05 volt more stock then the competitors. Once again i flashed the MSI bios to my asus card and now i can finally achieve clocks that look like the ones people with the msi and evga are claiming. But my Asus card reports that it is getting more power. Screenshot below..

@ josipz
Well i'm not sure what smartdoctor is limiting you to?

any other brand cept msi have numbered settings...so max is 1.13v or whatever no matter what the vid is.
With msi cards it added +mv the slider allows for +150 mv in ab,one of my msi cards has insane vid of 1.059v so it hits 1.19v with max.
other ones .987v so 1.13v max it varys this way.

I also see that you have no tri voltage control, its different ic's on the asus card.

Yeah it seems i made a mistake MSI cards are just not limited to 1.1 like the other manufacturers. Only problem is if they can handle those kinds og voltages up to 1.2 as you say.

I never said 1.21v was safe, matter of fact the only way safe is to not touch it at all wink.gif
just because 1.21v is there does not mean you should use it all in one place redface.gif
my mb sets 1.9v for my cpu but dont i dont use it.

Your gunna blow up alot stuff if you just rush in with max slider
